Wonderfully Windy Weather!

Well what a day we've had. We began by taking up the challenge to make and decorate our own kites.

We all had different ideas. Some of us worked independently, some of us collaborated but we all persevered.

Then came the fun bit....

We had great fun! Maybe you could make one the next time the weather is as wild. :)

Bryan is born!

On Wednesday morning, our first chick Bryan hatched from his shell. He was very gooey and sticky at first but he soon fluffed up.

The children in Reception were very excited to meet him and were soon giving him cuddles, making sure he had food and water and a warm house to live in.

Turning the eggs

The children in Reception have been turning the eggs three times a day, just like the mother hen would on the farm. It's only 5 days until they hatch now!

Chick hatching project begins!

Today Miss Webb and Mrs Jackson went to a farm in Leeds to pick up the chicken eggs ready for this term's hatching project. We collected 20 eggs from Meanwood Valley Urban Farm and brought them back to Bradford to start the incubation process.

These chickens laid the eggs.

This is Mrs Jackson with the cockerel.

We put all 20 eggs into the incubator. They will stay here for 21 days until they start hatching.

I wonder if the Reception and Nursery children will enjoy our chick hatching project. Keep reading our blog over the next 4 weeks to find out!
